The Department offers an MSW (Master of Social Work) from the academic year 2007 – 08 onwards. The Master of Social Work is a Postgraduate Degree of two years duration. Aspirants can pursue MSW course after completing a Bachelor's degree. The syllabus is equivalent to Tamilnadu State Council for Higher Education (TANSCHE) and University Grants Commission (UGC). Focus on contemporary Theories and Practice with multifaceted field work exposure in various social work fields of study. Professional hands-on training and fieldwork internships in Civil Societies, Development organizations, Health Care and Counseling, Industrial and Manufacturing sectors of National and International repute.
Specialization in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work equips professionals with the expertise to support individuals facing complex health and mental health challenges. The Human Resource Management specialization equips students with professional knowledge and fieldwork experiences to take up careers soon after the course completion in the Human Resources department of Industries, Corporates, Hospitals, NGOs and other people development sectors. The course is blended with course contents in the core areas of HR Administration, Maintenance and Development covering the functions of Acquisition, Performance management, Labour compliance and Industrial relations, Compensation management, Employee engagement, Counselling and emerging HR functional areas. HR trends in the contemporary period and skill demands in the real world scenario are taught through Invited lectures by Industrial experts, Industrial visits, Fieldwork in HR settings and through appropriate skill building workshops.
