Model United Nations:
MUN is an educational simulation in which students can learn diplomacy, international relations, public speaking and much more. LDC MUN was hosted within the college for ISC students, of which 15 students registered and benefited. Students were allotted different countries under UNWOMEN committee and discussed the primary and secondary agenda set for the meet.
To take this simulation to next level experience, students from various departments of LDC took part in the SRM MUN at Chennai.
Safe Space:
It is a student initiative platform created for students to discuss several taboo topics without any fear of judgement. The students get to interact freely and share their opinions on important social issues with an open mind. This closed place gives a safe space for the students to voice out anything without any fear of consequences. This forum addressed topics like body shaming, gender and sexuality, anxiety, peer pressure etc.
Debate club:
Debate is a process that involves formal discussion on a topic. ISC hosted two debate events on the topics “should politicians be required to have higher level of education?” and “feminism: boon or ban”. These topics kindles the latent interest in students and as a result Students showed active participation throughout the debate session by showcasing their strong speaking and research skills.
Drama club:
Drama is a mode of fictional representation through dialogues and performances which mostly reflects on people’s livelihood. ISC conducted a drama club and staged “Birth of Jesus Christ but with a twist” and trained the students to play their roles perfectly. Through this play students developed their oral communication and acting skills.
People and Places Certificate Course
This multi-session certificate course gives students an introduction to Environmental Studies. In People and Places students discuss and define environmental issues. Through the course they can explore how humans affect and connect with natural spaces. People and Places also focuses on human responses to climate change and how environmental issues overlap with social issues.
