It also helps students in developing their social qualities like co-operation, team spirit and open mindedness as they conduct the inter collegiate meet once every year.
All students of the UG and PG classes are the members of the Mathematics club. Every year the office bearers are elected. The President is elected from the III UG students while the Secretary and Treasurer are elected from the II UG students. There are separate office bearers for the aided and SF stream. One student from the II PG is elected as the PG representative. The Mathematics club regularly organizes various club activities and competitions. The office bearers together with the faculty of the department organize the intercollegiate meet called the Mathematics carnival.
In the academic year 2021-2022, various competitions like Aptitude Test, Paper Presentation, Click and Flick, Mathematical Rangoli, Mathematical Quiz, were conducted for the UG students; and Paper Presentation, Video Presentation and Mathematical Rangoli were conducted for the PG students. Students very actively participated in all the competitions. This club provides a platform for the students to exhibit their talents and face the competitions with confidence.
The Department of Mathematics, Lady Doak College, Madurai, organized the "Mathematics Carnival 2022", an Inter Collegiate meet on 6th May, 2022 with the purpose of exchanging potential knowledge in Mathematics among the students from different colleges. 192 students from 17 colleges in and around Madurai participated in the event.
The inaugural address was given by Mr. S. Stephen, Head of the Department of Mathematics (PG), The American College, Madurai. Various competitions like Paper Presentation, Quiz, Rangoli, Beautiful Mind, Mathematical Model Presentation, Dumb Charades were conducted with the motive of building confidence among the students. The Mathematics Quiz was conducted by the Quiz Master, Dr. G. Prabhakaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Thiagarajar College, Madurai. The event culminated with the valedictory note proposed by Dr. Suka Joshua, Associate Professor, Department of English, Lady Doak College, Madurai. The prizes were distributed to the winners by the chief guest and the overall trophy was bagged by Fatima College, Madurai.
