HISTORY :

Lady Doak College, the first women's college in Madurai was founded in 1948. The college has completed 62 years of committed labour of love and learning. It has an enrolment of about 3000 students and a team of committed staff with 200 teaching faculty, of whom 45 are Ph.D. holders and 110 non-teaching staff. The college offers undergraduate courses in 21 disciplines and postgraduate courses in 14 disciplines. The Tamil, Economics, Commerce, Microbiology, Zoology, English, Chemistry, History and Physics departments offer M.Phil. programme.  The Zoology, Economics, Physics, Tamil and Botany departments are recognized as  Research Centres.

Empowerment and encyclopedic development of women have been the unique culture of the college. It manifests a rich tradition of quality and value loaded system of learning, aiming to bring about a wholesome transformation of women with a well-balanced moral and social outlook.
